I think issues of "security" is a topic that needs to be put in perspective. We are both 'prominent' professionals in our respective fields and have come to realize that "MAD" (mutually assured destruction) is implicit with breeches of security and it simply tends not to happen. So far, all of the men she has had are married and have an equal investment in 'security'. Of course, if you are playing in "public" eg: clubs, hotels, etc. you do increase the risk.
Her 'main' lover is a very prominent businessman in our relatively small community and he is extremely discrete. What social consequences does your wife worry about?
