First, our chatoom is Java based. That has its good points and bad.For us it's good, in that it uses less of our resources to run. Chatrooms are notorious resources hogs and considering that we are a free website, Java makes sense.
The problem can be on your end. Depending on what browser / platform combination you are using, you may or may not be able to use it. Alas Java, unlike a rose is not a java is a java is a java! If it works for you then great, enjoy. It seems to be well used! If not then we are sorry, but there is nothing we can do at our end to help. Because of this we do not reply to emails that deal with the chatroom. It's not that we don't care about your problem but you need to understand a simple reality. This is a free site! We spend too much time as it is with it let alone help moderate the forums on a daily basis. We don't have the time to devote to chatroom problem emails when, as we have stated, there is nothing we can do to help with the problem.
Did work but not now?The problem could be that you did some kind of system upgrade etc that changed in some way the Java engine you are using. The change might have made it incompatible with our chatroom. There is also the smaller possibility that we have done an upgrade to the chatoom that has now made it incompatible with the java engine your computer is using that did work. As we said before, there is nothing we can do to help with this.
Hope for those who it does not work for!We are exploring other chatroom options. If we find a solution that will either work without problems for all visitors OR provides a second chatroom option to supplement our current one, then we will use it. The trick is that it must not eat up bandwidth or system resources.
